Clinical Prosthetist/Orthotist Training Pathway

An opportunity to become a Clinical Prosthetist/Orthotist

Technician careers at Peke Waihanga

How it Works

This career opportunity addresses the fact that no training in this field is currently offered in Aotearoa. Each year, the programme supports 1–2 participants to complete the Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia.

Before beginning their degree, successful applicants spend one year working as a technician in one of our centres. This hands‑on experience provides a strong understanding of prosthetic and orthotic manufacturing, patient needs, and clinical workflows – setting graduates up for success when they begin formal study.

As part of our long‑term workforce strategy, the programme helps us build a sustainable pipeline of future clinicians, ensuring we can continue delivering high‑quality prosthetic and orthotic care across New Zealand.
