Responsibilities

Nurses review referrals and liaise with patients, whānau and health professionals as required to ensure patients are being seen appropriately and at the right time in their recovery journey.

They support patients to identify realistic individual goals, taking into consideration health and lifestyle needs. There is a significant focus on active participation with the patients’ multi-disciplinary care team and involvement in the initial assessment; ensuring that the patient is fully informed and ready for a prosthesis.

Nurses also see patients in the clinic if they are feeling unwell or upset, taking care of wound assessment/dressings and referrals.
